The Roof That Started It All

Tim Kolk didn't set out to become an insurance adjuster. He started in construction and home building in Texas in 2002, learning the trade from the ground up. That early work included ground-up custom home builds — and one of them came back around in a way that still defines how he works today.

A client purchased one of Tim's custom-built homes around 2005. Years later, a lightning strike caused a total loss. When the client needed to rebuild, there was only one person they called — Tim. That kind of trust, earned through the quality of the original build, is something no marketing budget can manufacture. Tim had already relocated to Florida by then and couldn't take on the project, but the call itself said everything about the standard he'd set.

Along the way, he was selling roofs when a routine inspection changed his career. He climbed onto a homeowner's roof and found clear hail damage across the shingles, the gutters, the soffit. The homeowner had already filed a claim on that same damage, and the insurance company had denied it.

Tim didn't let it go. He came back with the homeowner when the carrier sent its adjusters out, walked all three of them across the roof, and showed them what he saw — the impact marks, the collateral damage, the pattern that told the whole story. He was right. And one of those adjusters was impressed enough that he offered Tim a job on the spot.

That's how a construction professional became a licensed independent adjuster in 2011 — and it's the reason Classic Enterprises exists the way it does today. Tim spent years working insurance claims from the carrier's side, learning exactly how insurers evaluate damage, what they look for, what gets a claim paid, and what gets it denied. Thousands of claims later, he brought that knowledge back to the other side of the table.

Two Licenses, One Advantage

Most homeowners dealing with storm or fire damage end up caught between two parties who don't speak the same language: a contractor who knows how to rebuild but not how to document a claim, and an insurance process that runs on documentation. The gaps between them cost time and money.

Tim closes that gap because he holds both credentials himself — a Florida Certified Residential Contractor license (CRC1335151) and a Florida Licensed Independent Adjuster license (W137218). He rebuilds the home as the contractor, and because he spent years on the carrier side of the industry, he documents the damage to the standard insurers expect. One person, one point of contact, from the first inspection to the final walkthrough.

Tim brings construction experience since 2002 and insurance restoration expertise since 2011. He prepares estimates in Xactimate — the same estimating platform that carriers use internally — so the repair scope is documented in the language the insurer already speaks.

Since 2011, Tim has managed thousands of insurance claims across more than a dozen named hurricanes — including Irene, Sandy, Matthew, Irma, Michael, Florence, Ida, Ian, Beryl, Helene, and Milton.

In 2017 he moved to Pinellas County, and in 2018 he established Classic Enterprises Florida LLC to serve homeowners and investors across the Tampa Bay area.
